I plan to wear my Otto the Abominable Snow Dancer costume for some portion of these events, so if you are so inclined, feel free to show up in tutus, yeti / unicorn / mythical creature paraphernalia, glitter, onesies, etc.!

(It would make me super happy 🥰🦄✨⛄)

We are THREE WEEKS away from my debut picture book. Here's Part 2 of my Otto the Abominable Snow Dancer costume (the scarf!).

This photo was shortly after my husband smacked me in the face. We were going for heroic wind swept vibes and the scarf floating elegantly behind me, but ALAS.

This is in fact my most boomer complaint.
Why is everything a video these days? I do not need ten minutes and high production values to absorb one paragraph's worth of information, tyvm
i don't want to hear your most boomer complaint. what's your most millennial complaint?

I don't actually read for pleasure a lot. I adore picture books, analyzing them is rough. But I LOVE non fiction nature novels...it's a nature documentary in your head.

A World on the Wing by Scott Weidensaul ♥️ 10/10 recommend.

I haven't been on blue sky in a hot hour as I've been doing some thoughtful portfolio development and retooling my illustration point of view.

Late might thoughts no. 6: i just learned about tarsiers. What do you think it feels like being born with super hearing and night vision?

How do they master hearing everything all the time?

Late night thoughts no. 5: acknowledging the things that don't happen in a day seems easy. Considering the accumulation of things that didnt happen over a few decades is much harder.

The mental health is low lately. #anxiety #decisions

I wish i liked more things so i could enjoy them simply and overlap.

I like birds. Drawing birds. Painting birds. Making entire life stories for birds. Watching birds. Watching videos of other peoples birds. Learning about birds at fairs. Looking at bird taxidermy.

See? #birds #hobby #life

Sept. 6 is International Vulture Awareness Day! By consuming carcasses, #vultures prevent the spread of deadly diseases. Their bald heads, super-strong stomach acid, and ability to process pathogens--even anthrax--make them perfectly adapted for that essential role.

Went to the Fiber Arts Festival in Salida, CO today. Who knew you could make yarn in so many ways and uhh...smells. The alpacas and sheep made themselves known!

If you use bird down...is it still a fiber?

I highly recommend this delightful documentary - two dudes (non-birders) decide to complete a big year (see as many birds as they can in a year) living out of a van. Wonderfully done. Free on youtube. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zl-w...

Here is my illustration for this month's @scbwi.bsky.social prompt: "Mismatched". My inspiration for this month's prompt was the quote "Don't judge a book by its cover".

On time for #kidlitartpostcard day! I work both digitally and traditionally and I was recently told my style resembles Chagall and Kandinsky. I'll take it! Do you have a story you want to tell with wild emotion? If you're looking to bounce ideas around, I'm available for a chat.
