Oh! Also, for the first reminder of 2026, Limerick City has only ever elected 2 women to the Dáil and Limerick County have never elected any ever.

I predicted a deathly silence on here from all Irish historian and genealogists for a week when the 1926 Census is released. This is all our Christmases rolled into one! There is a palpable level of excitement from all us nerds 🤓

Here’s one thing to look forward to this year: the release of the 1926 census - really looking forward to exploring the census when it comes online - how and where will many of my Cumann na mBan women appear, I wonder? #exploreyourachives #speirgorm

Opening of this material will facilitate much research, and for many the chance to place our own family story in context

Went to a sober rave, I love dancing so was on the floor all the time but it felt so like a school disco as people just stood by the walls staring at the dance floor 😆 Very few of us actually danced.

For 2026, would like to see genAI masquerading as "local and handmade" get the boot from craft/art fairs and anywhere working makers earn their living, and for progressive movements to stop using it - you didn't need it before, and 100% don't need it now. Walk the walk as well as talking the talk.

End of 2025, this year I published another book, saw over a decade of work realised into a play and star, helped bring an international event to Ireland. Not too shabby 😁

The demographic on Facebook was the best for my content, but now it is impossible to compete against the Ai slop served up as history. People seem to be blind or just don't care whdn they are being fed nonsense.

Growing up I didn't have Christmas so as an adult I had to invent my own traditions. The one that stuck is making a meal from a different country for dinner. This year we're going with Jamaica 🇯🇲
We've been all around the world culinary speaking and already know next year's country 😆

Found at home.
Printed by Dennehy Photography 12 Cecil St.
I reckon it was taken close to the junction between O'Connell St and Cecil St looking up towards The Crescent.
Have also convinced myself I can make out 'The Brazen Head' sign next door to Patrick O'Grady.

Oh it is a complete mystery as to why we still need Pride. These are the comments under an article about Limerick Pride on Facebook.
No I will not blur their names, and hide their bigotry.

On the 16 September 1907, a bust of writer Gerald Griffin was unveiled at the former Creagh Lane, Christian Brothers School. Previously a courthouse for the trial of the murder of the "Colleen Bawn" (Ellen Hanley).
This article was published in Sydney's The Freeman's Journal on 31 October 1907.

Monthly reminder Limerick City has only ever elected 2 women to the Dáil. Limerick County has elected zero ever.
Started doing these reminders last year when we almost had a 3rd woman elected ( @elisaodonovan.bsky.social )
Instead I've to this same thing monthly for the next four years.
