My current project is a YA fantasy with a dash of romance:

👑 A prince rebelling against a cruel king.

👣 A journey of self-discovery.
❤️ A forbidden love awakening.

There is likely going to be at least 1 if not 2 more books in this series.

I just joined BlueSky & am excited to connect with #writer friends here! 🐚 My current #WIP is an Adult Contemporary #Romcom. When I'm not writing, I'm a counselor, a doctoral student, and a mom of 4.

Let's follow each other! What’s your #WIP about?

How do I tell that it's been a while since I read a physical book rather than on Kindle?

Last night I settled down with a brand new hardcover, opened it up, and switched off the lights.

🤣🤣🤣

"It feels a bit too young," I say on my first 2 days of reading The Cruel Prince, and then procede to devour the entire series in under 100 hours despite also writing some 6k words and working.

Needless to say, I rescind my earlier statement and highly recommend the series.

Someone in a writers group: “How do you maintain your confidence as a writer?”

Basically everyone there: “lol you sweet summer child”

New authors! Things you absolutely do not have to pay for:

-Being published

-Being interviewed on a podcast

-Book reviews

Things you should be paid for:

-Being published

-Your time and expertise

It doesn't matter how new you are. You never need to pay to play 🖤

I started reading "The Cruel Prince" by Holly Black. I felt it could be a suitable comparable title to my book.

For a while, I was concerned I had perhaps reached into too young an age group with this particular YA, but it really picks up in the second half.

What are you reading today, #booksky?

"It could be drugs," I tell my mother, as I hand her my TBR list so she can pick out Christmas gifts.

No clue what these are, but seems fun and like a good way to meet fellow folks in the publishing world. Here’s an #AgentsGuide for WILDERWOOD, a YA mystery with speculative elements.

Life is honestly too short to be embarrassed over anything that sparks even a little happiness in you. Be cringe. Be weird. Be enthusiastic about your interests. Don’t ever feel afraid of expressing yourself.

Repeat after me everyone, AGAIN: Translation is hard work. Translation is art. Translation requires authorial choices. Translation shouldn't be phoned in. Translation should be given the respect it's due.

If you think AI can translate a novel, please let me know right now so I can block you.

Thought I'd do a thread on writing tips that I might add to from time to time...
1) I've cited this one before on the other place... A description of a person or a place should tell you as much about the person doing the describing as the person or place being described. Examples below.

A multi-POV novel can be fantastic, but it needs to be purposeful—the story needs to call for it. Without clear intent, extra POVs can feel like clutter rather than essential threads in the narrative tapestry.

Here’s a 🧵on the craft of multi-POV storytelling 👇
