Het aantal lekkages van gevaarlijke stoffen uit goederentreinen is fors toegenomen. In 2023 trof de Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport (ILT) 26 lekkages aan, in 2024 waren dat er 52 en in 2025 zag de ILT meer dan 400 lekkages.
