I spent NYE with @photojdl.bsky.social in Skagit county spotting owls. This was a first for me, but there were dozens of veteran spotters there. I stupidly forgot my longer lens so all my stuff is super cropped. The close up photo was with JDL’s 600mm prime 😮

2025 was among the worst for us but there were some highlights. This is my favorite photo from the year. My grandkids went in the van with us to Yosemite. It’s a tight fit but making core memories with these guys is absolutely worth it. #vanlife

New kitten slept on my shoulder most of last night, his first night out of cat-introduction-quarantine, and I am both over-joyed and asthmatic. I absolutely love cats and am allergic. Worth every sniffle. #catsofbluesky

Introducing cats is a long game. Today, for the first time, Washburn was allowed to explore the house without a leash, the cats interacted directly. No fights, just posture batting and trilling, and now they're both processing in their own spaces (Wash is back in the office). #catsofbluesky

I bet this will be a significant part of the GOP healthcare plan: bring back the ability to cull people with pre-existing conditions. Insuring healthy people is a lot more affordable.

Under-the-door introductions are proceeding. Both cats are trilling and they have touched paws a few times. It’s so hard to take it slow. Tomorrow we remove the paper from the door windows and continue negotiations. #catsofbluesky
