Youth clubs like Avenues Youth Project do incredible work with young Londoners to keep them safe and help them thrive. My London VRU is funding sport and physical activity sessions like this during the holidays and throughout the year to ensure young people have access to positive opportunities.

We are committed to intervening to divert young people away from exploitation.

With @sadiqkhanlondon.bsky.social, we fund The Safety Box & others to tackle violence in the after-school period.

We must focus on preventing violence, not just responding to it.

My @london-vru.bsky.social is reaching children at the start of primary school to support them to improve their communication skills, with a big impact:

Thanks @annafazack.bsky.social for such a good write-up on such an important primary school intervention. Early impressive results @london.gov.uk @london-vru.sky.social
Two-thirds of children at risk of exclusion have speech and communication needs. My @london-vru.bsky.social is addressing this with oracy interventions in primary school.

In just one year, it has led to 98% of children narrowing the gap to their peers and 60% meeting vocabulary standards.

Youth workers offer a lifeline for young people following arrest for a violent offence.

We fund two programmes - Divert and Engage - to embed youth workers in police custody to prevent reoffending and provide support.

So far, we've reached 10,000 young people.
