🚨 UPDATE:8 activists,including 2 female environmental defenders, were remanded until Nov 26 after bail was denied. They were arrested at NEMA on Oct 21 for delivering a petition to save the critical Lwera wetland.
Silencing environmental voices is an injustice to us all. We stand with the defenders.

Today, Liberty Pro Bono Initiative submitted a frmal complaint to the Judicial Service Commission concerning alleged judicial misconduct in the handling of a case involving the fmale environmental ad others.
We continue to stand for justice, transparency, and the protection of defenders of justice.

It's very ashaming to our judicial system once again for denying the female environmental defenders and other there freedom,after remanding them again upto 26th November after spending over 100 days in prison,from 1st August when they arrested at Stanbic Bank over being against EACOP.

Today, LPI represented 8 comrades including 2 female activists who were arrested on 22nd October at NAME headquarters offices demanding for restoration of lwera wetland. Appeared in court and magistrate adjourned the court till tomorrow for bail hearing..

Update. Today we delivered a petition signed by over 60 climate defenders and Organizations requesting Uganda Human Rights Commission to intervene in the case of 12 youth activists where by 3 are female who have been in detention for over 90 days. We demand for immediate release of activists.

Bail denied again.
Today, female environmental activists appeared in court but were denied the right to apply for bail. The magistrate claimed the case is "at an advanced stage." They have been remanded again until November 6, 2025.

Today, we submitted a letter to the Chief Magistrate at Buganda Road Court, urging intervention in the continued detention and denial of bail for a female environmental activist. Justice delayed is justice denied. #JusticeForActivists #HumanRights
