When we most need clear thinking abt threats (ISIS, gun availability, racist & lethal ideologies), & elevation of acts of courage, & care for all communities hurting, Minns, unforgivably, serves up inflammatory conflation of anti-genocide rallies w the terror attack

Feel 🤢 abt what 2026 will bring

None of this is “good faith political debate,” and it’s not a coincidence that all these outlets are suddenly interested in the same “discussion” at the same time.

Treating women’s humanity like a thought exercise makes it that much easier to legislate away

Seeing a lot of takes that violence is not the answer. Nope.

It is in fact good to pop a fascist sex pest in the mouth, especially if he’s cosplaying as a boxer. Any ethical framework can bear that load. Enjoy it, it’s beautiful.

Think this brings the number of candidates "dismissed" by the Junta's election commission to about 90*? Numbers aside just adds to the mountain of evidence that the upcoming "election" in Myanmar is just a sham, a façade, undemocratic & should not be recognised at all by anyone.

Cannot believe how concussed the discussion is in Australia. We have a major security problem - two extremists training with (?) ISIS overseas and had easy access to guns – and Sussan Ley is releasing an Action Plan that is like "We will amend the Australian Research Council Act"

John Howard pushed for the invasion of Iraq, which was one of the dominoes which created the conditions for ISIS and caused untold human misery we are still dealing with today. He refused to acknowledge racism was a main driver of the Cronulla riots.

Hanson is calling for tougher hate speech laws, while she is currently in court trying to appeal against her loss in a hate speech legal case. A fact not mentioned by a single outlet covering this story.
Hanson at the Bondi memorial calling for students to be "rounded up" and cuts to immigration. The crowd muttering in agreement, and giving her a huge round of applause once she finishes.

Everything is about to get so much worse in Australia

The idea that changing a definition to include criticism of Israel as being anti-Semitic and cracking down even further on anti-genocide protests would have in any way made anyone safer is madness. That the Coalition have so comprehensively jumped to blame here is insanity. Who is this speaking to?

For a particular type of political bad faith actor, it was more like 48 minutes.

Meanwhile, the overwhelming majority of the country is doing the things they feel are right, which is community.
For about 48 hours Australians lived out of a sense of our shared humanity - grieving with those who grieve, waiting hours do donate blood - some political leaders got uncomfortable with that & have turned to the path of stirring up division & putting people into hierarchies

Australia is more urbanised today than it was in 1996. Opponents of a new round of gun control are going to find themselves even further on the fringe than they were in 96. Especially if it focuses on use case.

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)
There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.

People keep wondering why they're going after Venezuela. It's because they want to do regime change and control its oil, then use a big tract of land there to keep a tax free "network state" that looks like Dubai but operates like Rhodesia. They are saying this out loud! Believe them!

I don’t want to be pollyannish about the past, but it was basically inconceivable twenty years ago that a president would say this publicly
Trump: "It’s a hellhole right now. And those Somalians should be out of here. They've destroyed our country. And all they do is complain, complain, complain. You have her. She’s always talking about the Constitution provides me with – go back to your own country and figure out your constitution."
