I can’t say I’ve had an experience that can compare, in terms of helping me grow, listen to different perspectives, and ultimately shape the person who I am today.

The Roots are headlining this year’s Artscape. Way back in the day, they headlined Tigerfest and in preparation, I bought a couple of their albums to familiarize myself with their music.

Trump is the antithesis of leadership. “So far gone” is more an accurate description of his supporters who day after day are willing to overlook and ignore the mounting body of evidence that shows the policies of his administration harm the people of America both here at home and abroad.

In less than 3 years Baltimore’s murder rate has literally been cut in half. The progress is undeniable and all of us living here know we still have so much more work to do. We are not satisfied, we are emboldened to do better.

Today while invoking the Home Rule Act in Washington DC, President Trump described Baltimore as “so far gone”. A sitting president should inspire the people they represent, not consistently disparage them.

Thank you. It’s important to keep in mind that despite the very real and horrific issues faced by humanity today, we have it far better than pretty much every generation prior. It’s our responsibility to adapt and weather this next storm. We can do it.
