I've been a developer for 15 years, and yet when I play a Zachtronics programming game I feel like it's my first time programming.
Something about old, low level languages just feels like you can never be an expert, and that the old exceptional programmers of the 70s are magical and gone.

The only thing Windows has left is games. I think I just need to switch to my Mac for streaming and be done with it. Unreal runs on mac, as well as all the software I need to make and code games.

After so long in professional development I worry that my love for programming has faded, but then I get stuck in to a low level interest like C and I feel the spark glowing again. 😊

Really want to make @bsky.app work, but it seems to just not play nice with Last pass. Every time I login it forgets the password I used, so I need to reset the thing constantly.
Means I just don't have the app open all the time, but I want to get better with it.

Big news; huge: I think FFX has made its way abobe FFVIII on my list of top Final Fantasy games, breaking through the nostalgia goggle glass ceiling and into podium terrirory.
There's a lot of game design to talk about, but so far it just feels nicer to play the opening

I asked a simple question about delayed state updates in React, and it created a timeout that would error on unmount.
I told it to fix, and it created a local timeoutId that did nothing.
AI cannot replace expertise, even on basics.

The more I use Generative AI for real projects, the lower an opinion I have of it for writing quality code.
It has ZERO competency to make clean code through dry principles or human readable stuff, and my experience is 95% using it as an advisor then implementing my own code.
