Today we received the 2nd NIH grant termination for life saving work on #eatingdisorders

This one impacts a postdoc who has devoted his life to improving treatments for EDs for EVERYONE. He no longer has funding for his salary or work As of yesterday (we received notice this morning).

Today the D.C. District Court granted a preliminary injunction against the Treasury. NATIONAL TREASURY EMPLOYEES UNION v. DONALD J. TRUMP et al,
Docket No. 1:25-cv-00935 (D.D.C. Mar 31, 2025). Have not heard what happened at the hearing in the KY District Court.

Any efforts to take down disparate impact, even if mired in court, will essentially kill all efforts to make AI systems less biased. We know what happens when we don't mitigate bias in AI, and I can assure it's not meritocracy and equality of opportunity.

I was just told that I have to remove “climate” from the title of an ongoing grant if I want to keep it. And publications from that grant cannot include “climate” and other forbidden words. I can’t believe I’m writing this from the United States of America. #AcademicSky
Just received an email saying that it's not advisable to include the following words in future applications for research funding to the US DOT. Here we are.
