Tiny preview of the Monotropa uniflora I'm working on! I'm also busy with a bunch of mosses. And good news, I've decided to offer DIY kits (see last post on Mastodon)! Once I've finished sourcing materials and writing the guides, they'll be available in my shop.

Working on a flower light. Maybe more then one, but at least one. A remake of the Monotropa uniflora, in a different-but-similar style.

Here to brighten your day - a physical glimmer of hope. It does actually light up!

Just this! I love the rocks.

Apparently it's not just me who struggles with taking pictures of my work - the photographer I hired had a hard time too. But the results are great!

One of the effects of my work: seeing amazing tree trunks, with or without moss. I can really get very enthusiastic about tree trunks now. Or just wood, in general. Shapes! Textures!

Funny how on Instagram, only 66 of my 1,000 followers see my posts - and no one else. But on Mastodon, tons interact, even without following me. Instagram used to be like that too. Now, if I post, I’m immediately asked to pay for exposure. Almost like not paying is why nobody sees it.

I thought I'd take a picture of one of my nearly finished lights in my moss garden, dusted with hail, to show you. I might add some red stitches to this to support the red lights here, as they are a bit sparse. Made after Trichia decipiens (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichia...).

Redesigned my website from scratch. Everything is much more practical for non-Dutch speakers, as English is now the default language! So if you want to learn more about my work or me, you can actually read it now!

A preview of the results from my new material tests: one tiny moss sporophyte sculpture. Around 5 mm, possibly smaller. The results are promising! If you’d like to read more, check out my Mastodon post: mastodon.art/@LevendLicht...

Man, I was ill with the flu for a long time! I'm back now and working on a few of these! I've stopped using the material I originally used to make these sporophytes (as I was unhappy with some of the material properties), but now I need to find a way to recreate them—similar, or preferably, better.

Today was suddenly very sad, as I had to say goodbye to my sweet little cat, Curie. She had a sudden epileptic attack that wouldn’t stop, and there was nothing we could do to help her except end her suffering. She was 15 years old and will be sorely missed.

Moss light has five little lighted sporophytes emerging from the moss embroidery below, all encased in a reused wooden circle. Some smaller moss necklace hangers are available in my etsy shop: levendlichtje.etsy.com

I've been exploring these new platforms a bit since I've joined. Not only a great replacement of the previous ones (the Fediverse options most) but they also have some things I like a lot: alt text is way more easy to add! Why was it never like this before?

I’m bummed that an image sharing platform I liked has become something bad for me and the world. I feel like a boiled frog who has been utilizing the internet to share art for more than 29 years, and now I have a choice between boiling water and no water at all!

I will be reuploading and commenting on my whole Instagram feed on Pixelfed. This way I will still have an archive which shows the way my work developed. My Pixelfed account is here: @LevendLichtje@pixelfed.social
