A friend once told me about a dream he had.
He was walking by some water when he fell in.
He thought about drowning.
But, instead, he grew gills.
And the sun looked different now.

For the first century of my life I lived solely on faith without really realizing it and, though I'm tempted to say my faith went away, like a handsome robber baron who took my heart as gently as that, I thinks it's truer to say that I abused it so it left.
Funny how we think we love.

There is a sudden, obvious vacuum that permeates everything from the songs we sing to the food we eat. Any attempt to revive it is as useless as trying to resuscitate road-kill. The best we can do is feel sad. slightly responsible, and scrape the carcass off to the side of the road.

There are days when I do nothing
But pray for the arrival of night.
The night is a friend most parents don't like:
A bad influence who'll surely get you killed or
Thrown in jail.
My eyes change at night and I see better.

I can’t remember exactly where I was before I was born.
Can you?
Some people can.
The five year old daughter of a friend of mine told her mother once: “I can remember when I was big and you were little.”
They were driving at the time
Mama freaked.
The subject was dropped.
Pity

Funny thing about history. It's always the same. It's happened before. But it's slightly changed in the telling. We have video now, so that helps a little. At least now we know we're being lied to. At least now we know where we stand... History is a Big White Lie that repeats itself.

Once upon a time, when we were born, we came from a place that existed because we thought it did. As did we. But, that's another story.

I don't get to the woods much, but, when I do, it always feels like the home I was abducted from at a very early age.

In our slow and steady climb up the ladder of several lives toward perfection, I hold it's wise to ask ourselves a few questions.
What must we look like to some god-like thing? How silly. Look at that dress! Look at that air.
I need a cigarette.

There used to be trees here. There used to be woods. And faeries. Who would dance to the timbre of your voice. In Maine. Deep in the woods of Maine. I don’t get to the woods much. But, when I do, it always feels like the home I was abducted from at a very early age.

It's something about the eyes. Like nobody can see you when all they gotta do is look. I saw a sign in a store that read: "Look up. You might miss something." I did. And I did. #philsophy #writers

What do you see from your place? Can you see the earth from where you are? Is she crying? Is there the slightest hint of a salt-water tear down near Australia somewhere? Or, is she blubbering? Blubbering near the once haunted woods of Maine?

What does one do? What does one do when the Bottom is falling out with equal velocity and panache as the Top is ascending? Some go out and buy a car. Others steal. Others refuse to go out at all, peeping through the Levalor blinds when they’re afraid there’s not something out there.

Sometimes I wonder if I can continue to exist in our current society. We don't share the same priorities. Something was laid out for us before we were born and none of us had any say. It hurts sometimes, too. And makes as much sense to me as a fever does to a baby with a bad cold.

Do you believe in fear? I ask because I wonder and figure you might know. To me, fear is friendly fire. Going about your business, thinking your back's covered, eye on the moment's enemy like a cat, when it slips in behind and zeroes in on you blind. Oops. Sorry. Didn't see you. Oops.

The future walks backward into my head now and then looking kind of lost like it's trying to find its way home.

When one impedes the connection of man & nature, man & god, woman & man, man & man, woman & woman, life & death, heart & soul, earth & sky, heaven & health, and hooray for our side of hell, one screws with the fabric of our universe. When all we gotta do is sit and look at the moon.
