This is well worth a read. Great insight on Panarama issue and wider issues in the way the BBC operates.
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

Important but rarely made point by Maitlis about how journalists should ”know when to believe”. In a world of bad faith actors too many journalists persist with 2-sides approach & come across as guileless stooges that let bad people get away with lies & deceit by failing to call it out.

Not a surprise to see @susannareid100.bsky.social & Ed Balls on willfully misunderstand #GaryNevilles point that the 'stoking of division' is the danger - when #GMBs idea of how to address a political issue is platform division by getting 2 people who will never agree to debate it.

The snideness of the coverage of Angela Raynor in The Times today is something to behold. They might as well have just said: working class northern women are not allowed to achieve or have any pleasures in life - and if they do, we will hound them for it.

Well done to The Times today. The paper of record now acting as a propaganda weapon to whip up far right hatred. Tony Gallagher is a little known figure but is managing to become of the most unpleasantly insidious figures in British public life.

Good to see the @eplscores.bsky.social can call on rules no one new existed and that never get applied, when it needs to ensure the decisions favour the big teams.

Farage and the far right in general come from a grievance culture. If you do what they want, even maximally – Brexit – they’ll move the goalposts and keep moaning. If you engage seriously with their concerns, they’ll find new ones. You will never satisfy them, because they don’t want to be satisfied
The problem with this ‘let’s weaken our commitment to the ECHR so as to fend off Farage’ plan is that when it doesn’t work, we end up with Farage *and* a weakened commitment to the ECHR at exactly the moment we need the ECHR the most.

@sturdyalex.bsky.social On a scale of 1-10 how much do you expect BBC & other outlets to overstate Reform performance & provide more Oxygen for Reform? They've won an early term by election by 6 votes & a mayoralty in the heart of a County where people want to live in the 1950s. Hardly a landslide.

Frustrated with Labour but then you see Tory Mel Stride on TV & are reminded of their mendacity. Moans about LAB not conducting a trade deal with USA despite them failing to do so when in power, then lies about the benefits of Brexit (vaccine) despite being a remainer #ToryVandals

@goodmorningbritain.bsky.social attempts at 'politics' tell you everything about how badly our media fails in this regard. A cosy, friendly chat of two opposing views, neither of which has any skin in the game & one of whose (Kwarteng) biggest contribution to public life was to crash the economy.

Once more, Farage is claiming that he stood up in the European Parliament in early 2014 and predicted the Ukraine war.
In fact, he stood up in September 2014, AFTER the annexation of Crimea, and blamed Europe for Putin's actions. I kept the receipts. Listen here 👇🏽
