On Sat/Sun 6/7 June we're celebrating the 125th birthday of Queens Road garage, next door to our museum. And our friends at Bee Network & Stagecoach are helping by holding an open day at the garage on Saturday 6 June! Between the open day and the museum event it'll be a brill day out for the family.

Oh dear @doublearrow64.bsky.social it was going so well. Not sure what guidelines these have come from at Manc Vicc?! The grey dividers, the odd extra blank boxes and those arena ads can get in the bin 🙄🤦‍♂️ And yet Salford Central is point 🤷‍♂️

Our good friends @motgm.uk have snuck into their calendar an event that is right up our street!
Keep your eyes peeled nearer the time for updates and sneaky peaks of the preparations!
Happy New Year! As it's 2026, we thought we'd remind you about our programme of this year's events. And the eagle-eyed will spot that we've snuck in an extra, 'A Day with SELNEC' on 24 May when we'll dig out orange buses and welcome a restoration premiere courtesy of some lovely friends... 😉

As part of the refresh of EX1 we have had its original number blinds remade. These are of the Mancunian style with sharp angles used by MCTD. The later curved numerals and blinds would come later. These (along with a replica via blind) have been expertly made by Blinds by PWC and Peter Watts.

Manchesters first prototype Standard vehicle, EX1 PNF 941J (a Leyland Atlantean whose chassis was a legecy order of Ashton Corporation) has been in slumber for quite afew years. Now awoken once more, it will be a feature on the rally circuit next year. But not before a well deserved repaint!

#OnThisDay in 1986, bus deregulation came to most of the UK including Greater Manchester. This GM Buses advert said 'pick you up tomorrow as usual'...

@showmeasign.online Can't tell you the number of times I've walked past this little blue boardered beauty! Can't be that many left now in the middle of Manchester 🤔

Paging @doublearrow64.bsky.social someone has picked up version 3 of the Wayfinding guidance in the North West! Salford Central has had its second resign in 18 months and looks much better for it.

@showmeasign.online Remember, I called this ages ago! 🤦🤣
Very interesting revelation in
@kitty-donaldson.bsky.social's evening newsletter:

Andrew Gwynne, one of the MPs rumoured to be thinking of standing down to make way for Andy Burnham, has applied to the Commons authorities to retire on medical grounds.

Help! We're in urgent need of a speedo drive to fit a Dennis Trident with Voith gearbox. This is Stagecoach Manchester 612 and - as our most accessible bus - we're hoping to use it at the end of the month to transport people with disabilities. If you can help quickly, please contact email@gmts.co.uk

I've seen this on the telly recently, and just found it now on a webpage, so I have to ask @doublearrow64.bsky.social, what do you think of it? 🤔

Morning all. Not the best photo sadly but these must be a rare thing on the railway... There can't have been a huge amount of signs with "RailTrack" on them. This one by the cement works near Salford Central is hanging on... @doublearrow64.bsky.social @showmeasign.online @rclongauthor.bsky.social

Another in the series of "odd places to find the double arrow" is this sticker on a lamp post on Ancoats in Manchester. After dismissing this as the new GBR logo (!) I did wonder, has any other logo been adopted by society as much as this one? @doublearrow64.bsky.social

Soooo @doublearrow64.bsky.social @richardprice.bsky.social and indeed anyone, what are the predictions for tomorrow's big launch of SWTs nationalisation? A damp squib or a shock??

Today's agreement with the #EU is not a betrayal as our ever more headline hungry media is reporting, but level headed economic sense. Above all, it resets vital relations with our key trading and security partner - much needed in this evolving global landscape. Congratulations to #UK and EU.
