Yup. That whole space storyline pleased me. 100% accurate? Nah. Good enough? Absolutely, with the spirit intact. I feel like somebody in the writers room has a friend at JPL who made notes.
This week's 9-1-1 episode was glorious. Just saying, as a someone who has used my IRL positions to warn folks about Kessler Syndrome, satellite constellations, lack of safety in private space travel, certain tech bros, etc... for years, I really enjoyed it.

I desperately needed last night's NIN concert. So cathartic.

So, my husband accidentally brought up Endgame because he had forgotten I am not a normal person about it. The horror in his eyes, poor man, once I started in.

Something that I love about being faculty at a CC is that we have *zero* prestige and therefore (usually) nobody targets us with their political machinations.

We are still focused on equity.
We are still teaching anti-racism.

My colleagues at other CCs have not stopped, either.

Well, KPop Demon Hunters was glorious.

We enjoyed Fantastic Four: First Steps far more than Superman.. I liked Superman, don't get me wrong, but I feel like the reviews demonstrate our collective relief that they didn't screw the character up instead of analyzing the movie. FF simply succeeded better as a movie (direction, story) for us.

I made it to Hall H for the Lucas Museum presentation and teared up when George Lucas walked on stage to a standing ovation. 😭

If I've been quiet during this #SDCC, it's because I've just been obsessively staring at the San Diego Lego-Con Diorama. Photos do NOT do it justice.

For any of you who are still interested in the MCU, here are the costumes from the Marvel booth today.

Honestly losing my mind a bit right now.
George Lucas, whose #StarWars movies helped create many of the ideas of modern fandoms, is coming to #SDCC for his first-ever panel.

Lucas will headline a panel on his Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, and will be joined by Guillermo del Toro and Queen Latifah bit.ly/4ePbyRM

NASA is being told to cancel 19 *active* missions to save $6B, which looks to be less than the ICE *hiring/retention* budget going forward.

I need people to let that sentence sink into their bones for a minute.
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

I've seen some vocally anti-AI people recently make an anti-AI post and be surprised there are still pro-AI people following them, and I can explain this;

most pro-AI people think they are somehow the exception. the way THEY are using it, SURELY you would take no issue!

well, we do. so fuck off.

multiple reports now that LA cops attacked a peaceful demonstration
To be clear, I saw no signs of violence or anything that would warrant teargas. They brought in horses and then we heard a bunch of loud pops before the crowds started running.

"Liberate this city from socialists and burdensome leadership." If that's not regime change, I don't know what to tell you.

The inflection point is now.
Kristi Noem: "We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into the city."

Sen. Alex Padilla is then forcibly removed!

Finally watched the latest Captain America movie, and I have so many questions about how that script came together. Loved any scene with Sam, Joaquin, Isaiah, and the extremely brief, much beloved cameo. Was pleasantly surprised by how much screen time Harrison Ford had. But that story? Why.

So, my husband has truly become obsessed with the firefighter show. He obtained a free trial (and then canceled it) so we could watch the finale live. He watched the thirst tweets video. He is so angry about Bobby. I'm really enjoying this. :)
