Fellow artists, photographers and makers, what pencils do you like to use to sign work?

Going to bed early with tea and a slice of lemon drizzle from my favourite local bakery, 10/10 can recommend.

A very happy afternoon spent printing.

Have spent the last 3 days working on printing. Each time I do, I get a little bit closer to the results I'm after.
The print to the left is from February, the one to the right is from today after @danfoto.bsky.social did some software wizardry yesterday.

I try very hard to look for the positives (getting much better at it too) but almost every single nice thing this year has either been taken away or affected by something significantly difficult. I'm gonna get back up and brush off the dirt on my scraped knees (again) but... I just wanted a chance.

It's taken me tears to build up the confidence to apply to an arts grant, I was finally ready and then this summer they had an IT outtage that temporarily suspended it. I've been working on my application in the meantime, it's been that small hope, the possibility of life improving in the future.

Can't believe it's already been this long since our Japan trip. Exactly a year ago we were at Shibuya for Halloween.
Out here, living my best life

I need every beginner artist out there who thinks their work isn’t good enough to know that in this AI-poisoned environment seeing your raw, human art gives me fucking life.

Any imperfection born from a living soul infinitely trumps whatever “polished” slop they’re trying to force feed us.

Mind and nervous system is frazzled after work this week, too much multitasking and everything happening all at once.
But now it's the weekend, Storm Benjamin seems to have passed, the sky is blue and the wind is down.

Operation Studio Space is on this weekend.
We have a study full of books, where I write and we both do our photography work but we (meaning me, I'm the guilty party) need some more storage space for notebooks, papers and finished work.

First week back on my normal hours and full duties at work. No medical emergencies, only a few minor fixable mistakes and some good feedback from both higher ups and customers ✌️

I officially declare 2025 a personal shitshow. If anything nice happens in the last few months of the year I will be happily surprised and gratefully accept.
Just had another health incident and it's super hard to keep trying to stay positive when my body is trying to destroy my life.

D found us a new place to walk not too far from where we live and it was gorgeous.

I've been off sick for a bit and it's my first day back, so I'm a mix of nervous and excited about going back to "normal".

If I wasn't ill, I'd make so much art. I'd be unstoppable.

Had a really lovely weekend and being able to be outside, in nature and going out somewhere nice makes such a positive difference. Feeling a lot better for it.

Celebrating 12 years with @danfoto.bsky.social today and it's a rainy day, just how we like it.

Some of us have not been able to or wanted to follow a classic life timeline, let alone an artist's one.

When Artists Are Too Old to Be “Emerging”
If the art world is serious about equity, it has to stop equating emergence with youth and start building structures that reflect the multiplicity of artistic timelines.

This is possibly a stupid (and niche) question but does anyone on Bluesky know if it's possible to find affordable copies of all 3 volumes of 波紋集 (Hamonshū) by 森雄山 (Mori Yūzan) in Japan, either as new reprints or older editions?

I've been blown away, I put the photo series together for myself and never expected so many people would be interested in it too.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to have a look, leave comments, likes and retweets, it means a lot.
I made something the last two days.

Nearly home after a 3hr round-trip for a 3 min blood test. BUT thanks to the speedy staff I didn't miss my bus, which would have made it 4hrs and the route went through countryside dressed in rain and beginning autumn colours. After being bed- and housebound a lot, it's felt like a mini adventure.

Thank you for sharing your happy things with me!
It turns out second-hand joy is surprisingly effective as a mood booster and I also got a lot of inspiration and ideas for low-key, no-pressure ways I can boost my happiness.
Been a bit down in the dumps and was wondering, what is everyone's go-to for a hit of joy? What is something that easily, quickly, or gently lift your spirit a little?
