Miss Daisy thinks I have a hot date
I told her I would only consider going on a date if were with a 70 year old Icelandic man with his own herd of horses
That would be hot indeed

Remember when such storms were infrequent events?
Now we seem to have a major storm a week in autumn/winter
Climate crisis and do not let anyone tell you otherwise
Storm Claudia could bring wind gusts of 60-70 mph today for parts of northwest England and northwest Wales

This includes cross winds for some major roads such as the M6, which will result in dangerous driving conditions

Warnings are in force, so please take care ⚠️

I've always thought it would be quite nice to share my house with like-minded people but I suspect my nocturnal lifestyle might make me a nightmare to live with
I guess having the choice is what matters?

The rapid rise of renters in their 60s: ‘I hate the idea of house-sharing – but I have no choice’
It is often assumed that people of retirement age will no longer have housing costs to cover. But for a significant and growing group, this is far from the case

Shout out to everyone completely demoralized about the state of the world who still manages to get out of bed each morning.

And shout out to you, too if you’re still in bed. This shit is hard. Talk to your friends and neighbors. They’re going though it too, which is both terrifying and comforting.

Publish Epsteins' little black book
And release the videos he had recorded from his mansions
You don't think he didn't keep the proof of who abused the trafficked girls?
Of course he did
And Ghislaine must know where to find it
Time to get back to what really matters:

Benoit led the church service
I thought it was unfeeling and, well, cold
He did not attend the ceremony at the war memorial and the 1 min silence
And he was absent from the meal in the village hall
I think the man has serious problems
Outrage and mutterings as Benoit deems it appropriate to fly two German navy flags on 11th November
He also has one US, one UK and one French flag flying
Not no Canadian or Australian tributes

And then, a tad tipsy, I went to feed and water my ponies
Not easy picking up horse shit while wearing a skirt and heels
I was tiddly and that's why I considered walking Socrates into the village hall to meet those still partying
But no, common sense prevailed
For once
I should have though!

Reflections on Nov 11th in France:
1. A moving march with flags and flowers
2. An odd church service given by Benoit - is it time for him to stand down, given his recent behaviour?
3. I cried during the 1 min silence, someone else chatted, another drove a car and parked nearby...

Interesting...
I've been doing this for the last year
Miss Daisy, on the other hand is busy buying, buying, buying and filling her house with 'stuff'
I've told her I refuse to sort through it when her time comes

Dear Coursera
I know you mean well, but suggesting I take a course in #cybersecurity is like suggesting David Attenborough study natural history

Please control your orange idiot

I remember Zeus, pretty easy to reverse engineer
The issue is that companies/govts/people were (and many still are) dumb about #cybersecurity
And much of I.T. has been taken over by kids in T-shirts who are unprofessional and treat it like a big game

Two nights at the Hotel Europe in my fav room with the sea view, swimming, kayaking, hiking and dinners cooked by someone else = heaven

Friends here are gathering at the village restaurant for an apero session with the rugby on the TV in the bar
They are all there, all my friends and neighbours
All the village
Me, I am off to bed with a book
I have been sociable all week and I can no longer sustain my smiley face

I did morning pony duties early today because high tide was at 08:30. I still missed it but there was plenty of sea when I did arrive at 9:30
It was quite cold but I swam for 30 minutes with a couple of breaks for hot coffee to warm me
It was lovely, like old times...

Being 69 is posing challenges for me
Not least, society's expectations of how I should be/act
My mother/grandmothers were old women at 60
Me, I moved to France alone, changed careers, took up sea swimming, kayaking and rock/tree climbing, bought a horse at 68 and am thinking of going back to work

See, 86 years old and dividing his time between a hotel in Vermont and his ranch in New Mexico
So I could be 70 and divide my time between a pink castle at the coast and a horse sanctuary inland? 😜

The pink castle (aka le château de Coastèrés) is for sale because the current owner says he is too old to keep it
I'd cope with it, and I'm nearing my 70th year
The ad says it's on 'une île privé' and that is not true
I've been wandering all over it for 8 years
Obsessed?
Moi?
Absolument!

Email from Capital One asking me if I'm familiar with bank scams. 18 years ago I returned to the UK to work in #cybersecurity. My forte was reverse-engineering banking malware and email phishes
I do not miss the toxic work culture
But I do miss helping to keep cyberspace safe
For all you guys

It's been 10 years since I took my stressed-out, cancer-riddled, broken body off to Iceland to ride horses up volcanoes, and 8 years since I last took a holiday (also to Iceland) and I think I deserve one in 2026 to celebrate being 70 and still alive
N'est-ce pas?

And if I am very lucky I may get to enjoy some wave watching
November 7, 2025 at 3:07 PM
W/E Plans
1. Win the lottery
2. Buy a pink castle
3. And a herd of Icelandic horses
Or, I will drive to the coast and swim out to said-castle while dreaming of said-horses
