Look, I love baseball, but I don't want to talk to an AI likeness of my favorite players. In fact, outside of baseball, I don't want to even interact with them at all...except Andy Pettitte.

When my kids were teens, the rule was for every minute of doing chores or reading a book, they earned one minute of screen time.

As a dinosaur lover and someone who used to want to be a paleontologist, it's sad to see Jack Horner's name show up in the files.

Watched Sitting Bull on hulu. Michael Spears did a great job as Sitting Bull. Done by the history channel, a little longish, but overall pretty good.

Damn. This hits.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

A Simple Desultory Philippic (Or How I Was Robert McNamara'd Into Submission) by Simon and Garfunkel
Deleted a post about “what’s your least favorite song” because the vibes are bad enough already.

Instead: what’s your favorite song that has a long title, say at least 6 words long?

Mine: “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” (Pearl Jam)

The celery to chicken ratio in this chicken salad sandwich is way off. But what do I know? I'm only the president of the Citizens Against Celery Association.

I don't know about that, but I will say that great wealth is like the One Ring: Often the person with it thinks they are wielding it, but ultimately it wields them, and for its own ends, not theirs. It takes a strong person to resist its temptations, and that sort of person is not likely to seek it.
wealth is a mental illness
There's a point, well below a billion dollars, where the amount of money you have lets you rid yourself of anyone who can be a check on your worst impulses, and replace them with people who tell you those worst impulses are somehow valorous. Rare is the billionaire with someone to tell them "no."

A golden retriever named Bronson, who passed from bone cancer, donated his wheelchair to a dog named Brue who is battling the same cancer and recently became paralyzed. Brue got used to it very quickly, and now she's running for both of them. 14/10 for all (IG: grizzlybane)
