Software Engineer, working for Bloomberg (posts are my own); long time C++ tinkerer, past Git contributor; out and proud! 🏳️‍⚧️

Hi, I'm Lara! Starting over fresh, I'm a software engineer working for Bloomberg. I work on infrastructure, mainly in C++, and I am really motivated by quietly making things better for others with minimal distruption, high impact changes.
```
enum { DATA_LENGTH = 48 };
const std::string testData('0', DATA_LENGTH);
```

"Correctly" generated a test string of 48 '0' characters (and no warnings!), but when I tried to update the code to increase the length to 56 I did not get the effect I intended.

CppCon, day one, opening plenary and everyone's been able to mark "Compiler Explorer referred to as 'Godbolt'" off on their bingo cards already. #CppCon Tagging in the official compiler explorer account: @matt.godbolt.org , and Matt: @compiler-explorer.com .

I went for a walk without my phone.
Just me and my thoughts, all alone.
Next time, I take the phone.

One thing I'm quite excited about my next international trip is being able to see if I have any BlueSky DMs!

I honestly assumed that the phrase "vibe-coding" was derogatory, but now I'm not so sure.

Don't mind me, I'm just writing think pieces as pull request reviews.

Why is it called CppNorth if it's not far from the most far South you can be in Canada?

I've never been to CppNorth before, in part because it always conflicts with TransPride Brighton. This year I'm missing TransPride Brighton for CppNorth. I'm thinking of all my trans family marching in Brighton today. Together, we are strong.🏳️‍⚧️ 💖

I got the "I just don't like it" feeling when reviewing a medium sized change at work. It took me a day or so find my core objection and finally expressed it in a video call rather than pull-request comments. We've ended up with a substantially better patch and a lot better story around testing.

Direct message conversations - things are so much better on platforms on which you can leave a "react" emote. It allows me to positively acknowledge your last message without leaving you a message that you might feel obligated to respond to. This part of our ongoing interaction is complete. ❤
