Lansing just hit a decade-long low in permitting housing. Demand is constant and market analysis suggests we need upward of 1,000 units built per year. Actually, we should be permitting more, including 2-4 unit buildings

In Lansing, MLK used to be a neighborhood street, lined with single family homes, apartments, and storefronts. MDOT tore down hundreds of buildings to expand it into the highway it is today. #lovelansing

In the 1960s (when MLK was still named Logan and not a 6-8 lane hwy through our city), the Mich Department of Highways was looking at different plans to route traffic through Lansing. Eventually Logan would be expanded (pic from LSJ, 19 Nov 1961) #lovelansing
