Yes to all of this. I'm as safe as a trans person can be. I pass, have everything a trans guy could want. I don't want to be like Caitlyn Jenner, yanking the ladder up behind me.
On at least a weekly basis, "well meaning" cis people who call themselves "allies" ask me why I'm so loud about being trans. I'm mostly cis passing, I'm a lawyer, why do I have to announce I'm trans, they ask? I could just be "normal." By being so loud, they say, I bring the transphobia on myself.
