Being stuck in bed recovering from surgery means you get feeling sad, missing all the things you'd like to think you'd be doing instead - like standing nude in a stone circle, again. Definitely on my 2026 to-do list.

Nothing like enforced bed rest to make you feel like you're stuck in a box. I miss the smell of the wet leaves outside 😔

A finished cyanotype from one of my very first digital photos from many years ago. Lovely way to create prints 💜

Some turmeric based Anthotype of ferns from my garden and one of my favourite prints of fossils by Ernst Haeckel. Have been experimenting with alternatives to fixing without Borax.

Have been making cyanotypes and anthotypes as part of a print share project with Reddit, I thought it might be cool to include a couple of arty style photos along with normal prints.

No matter how dark things get, I will never stop being enchanted by the world. Every day I walk by a river on the way to school and I see a heron hunting for fish, I see the trees turning colour, the sun behind morning fog... We live on a planet full of life and it will never not be amazing to me.

Remember when George W Bush held a book upside down, Regan went to Bitburg, Clinton did not have sexual relations? How we laughed at their lack of judgement.

Trump is immeasurably more stupid yet I can't see anyone laughing. We all understand the danger of letting an inmate run the asylum.
Trump: "I think it has -- I think it's very bad. They're pumping, it looks like they're pumping into a horse. You have a little child, a little fragile child, and you get a vat of 80 different vaccines, I guess. 80 different blends. And they pump it in. So ideally, a woman won't take Tylenol."

"As our language around forests became less reverent, Poole noted that people began using more scientific and economic terms to describe trees. In other words, people began viewing forests as something from which to extract value, not inspiration."

The words we use to talk about nature are disappearing. Here’s why that matters.
We’ll need to do more than ‘touch grass’ to revive them.

This is vile. Local guy speaks to Sky News about the impact of asylum seekers protests. Watch what happens and share widely

This is what is happening to trans people - don't look away. Starmer et al are to blame for this.
Trans friend of mine, someone I've known for almost forty years, throughout her transition and everything she went through to become who she was all along...

...was assaulted is ASDA yesterday, by a security guard. Told her 'men were not allowed the ladies' loo' and physically dragged her out.

Said this before, but we as a society really need to view the world we inhabit as a dynamic, living landscape not just seeing ourselves as external observers.
@profaliceroberts.bsky.social I am watching the brilliant Digging for Britain, on the discovery of iron age bones in Shetland. Thank you. The following has emerged from my PhD studies. I thought you might appreciate "kwelics" & "kwelical" which I think is fun to say. seasonalight.com/2024/02/23/k...

These!

Real life green men and women.

Artists Karoline Hjorth & Riitta Ikonen have been on a journey to find them. Their project, “Eyes as Big as Plates,” transforms elders around the world into living sculptures, adorned with the very landscape they inhabit moss, seaweed, branches, and soil.
