Honestly I expect BIPOC artists to be more represented in the Traditional Country category than Contemporary Country. For every Breland there's five Rhiannon Giddenses, and they're both more successful and more respected than Nashville's Token Black Guys.
This stupid-ass tweet has been floating through multiple platforms and I'm begging people to think for half a second.

To be clear: Two Grammy categories that didn't exist before now aren't "black dominated" or "white dominated" just because some Twitter account you've never heard of said they were

Great. Phenomenal. Two words that fit feeo's debut record and her exploration of the enormous cityscape, and Jules Reidy's transformative new album, evoking their voice into otherwordly territory. Certainly AOTY contenders!

My write-up on feeo and Jules Reidy's albums is up on MGR Mag!
It’s our Bandcamp Picks of the Week, featuring the stirring electronic textures of feeo’s GOODNESS, out now via @ad93rec.bsky.social, and the left-field avant-pop compositions of Jules Reidy’s GHOST/SPIRIT, out now via @thrilljockey.bsky.social! Read about both and listen today!

A modest step up, but doesn't do much beyond that.

Skullcrusher follows through on her debut with some focus and a slight sonic shift. Touching upon loss with subtle emotive detail, but doesn't let the songs stick deeply.

My review of Skullcrusher's album is up now on @northern-trans.bsky.social!

Thiiiiiiiiis

If all you want to share is nihilism, we don't want it.

You're not savvy, you're having a breakdown.
The dooming on this site is getting out of control. Every time you post anything about politics some rando condescendingly wonders how you can't possibly know that elections are over and all hope is lost. If you've completely lost hope, I'm sorry, but shut the fuck up, OK? You're not helping.

You wouldn't exactly hear much like this, at least for this year. Stewing foggy bedroom folk, ambient, and cloud rap-esque sampling as a way to cultivate the memories uncovered and written down.

My review of Betty Hammerschlag's album, 'Forever Young', is up now on listencorp!
⭐ EXPLORATION REVIEW ⭐

Candid storytelling through autotuned moans and syrupy trap off-cuts. A fragile cloud folk diary.

"Transsexuality is bourgeois" reflects the common belief that medicine, technology, and any improvements to quality of life are owed to capitalism. The reality is that capitalism holds these improvements hostage for the sake of wealth.

I just couldn't believe it. What the fuck.

I'm so glad I managed to listen to his discography beforehand, really made me want more of the kind of organic, passionate R&B and Soul for years to come.

RIP to D'angelo, one of the best out there. I'm extremely heartbreaken.

Meet things where they are.

It'll demand you look inside yourself to do so. It'll be the hardest thing you'll ever do, to confront that ineffable core.

Then come out the other side with a curious passion that'll open your world.

In this new album, Upchuck adds sharpness to their skuzzy punk rock. Despite stumbling in balancing the familiar with the risky, there's more polish and kinship that show growth. A potency worth hearing.
