Zum Wochenende noch ein Blick in die Tiefe des Raumes und zurück in der Zeit: Das Hubble-Bild zeigt eine Galaxie, in der sich ein Schwarzes Loch mit der Masse von 170 Mio. Sonnen befindet. Das Licht der Sterne war 250 Mio. Jahre bis zu uns unterwegs, sodass wir weit in die Vergangenheit schauen.
Im Schwarz des Universums leuchtet uns eine spiralförmige Galaxie entgegen, wobei wir hier nicht genau von oben, sondern leicht schräg darauf schauen. Von dem gelblich und sehr hellen Zentrum führen hellblaue Arme in großen Bögen nach außen, wo sie sanft in die kosmische Dunkelheit übergehen. Hier und da sind auch rotbraune Nebel zu erahnen. Im übrigen Bild einige einzelne Sterne. Zwei von ihnen haben vier dünne strahlenförmige Linien. Das sind Artefakte, also aufnahmetechnische Effekte, wie sie auf den Hubble-Bildern immer wieder bei recht nahen Sternen auftreten, die sich in unserer Milchstraße befinden und quasi ins Bild schmuggeln.
