School shootings are rare in #Sweden, so yesterday's news is a shock. The scene of shooting is an adult school, run by a municipality for adults. This school is not limited to but mostly attended by immigrants wishing to gain a high-school certificate for higher education or jobs. RIP

I just finished Han Kang’s Human Acts, a beautifully written story of trauma, violence, humanness, and inhumanity during the Gwangju Uprising. Each page was painful to turn, and I found myself pausing multiple times. Highly recommend it.

Most “conflict minerals” are commodities traded for financial gain, but Myanmar’s amber from Kachin State is purchased by scientists for data collection.
