The House budget came out today. It severely cuts or freezes many parts of the state budget and underfunds essential public services, all with the apparent goal of triggering more income tax cuts.

Property taxes fund schools, public safety, libraries and more. But a movement in Frankfort to cap or even eliminate them for some groups threatens these public services.

The state should help people struggling to stay in their homes, but these vital revenues must also be protected.

So these numbers get revised all the time, but at the moment it looks like Kentucky had roughly 2,800 fewer federal employees in November than in January.

This is our first glimpse at federal employment after the deferred resignation program ended in September.
