The Body Keeps the Poem By Kyoko WP

The Collection is a record of what it means to live in a body that breaks without warning—and a system that refuses to listen. These poems bear witness to the invisible: chronic illness, medical gaslighting, and the quiet heroism of still being here.

Had the worst day yesterday fainted backwards down my basement stairs woke up on the ground crying. Thank God my oldest was home. So she was able to make sure the ambulance came. I’m so tired of it. Thankfully I only have a concussion, bruised ribs.. well bruised everything. And dislocated my elbow

For the past two summers straight, my daughter set her alarm got up at 7am. every single day & walked to school to practice volleyball. She even chose a volleyball camp over birthday gifts-because this means everything to her.
Unfortunately bc of school politics & parent cliques she didn’t make it.

I wrote,
“I miss you”
like a spell,
then deleted it.
You wouldn’t answer.
I’ve learned
to mourn people
who are still alive.
Especially the ones
who used to love me.

I expect nothing.
If you do not want to help, simply don’t. Rude comments are not necessary. Only reason I’m even asking is b/c I promised her I would try every route I could. I understand all of us are struggling.
