The Sword of Kaigen (📚 by ML Wang) turned out to be quite different from what I expected, but I really did enjoy it!

"At first glance, the key and the lock it fits may seem very different," Sazed said. "Different in shape, different in function, different in design. The man who looks at them without knowledge of their true nature might think them opposites, (cont...) #mistborn #quotes 📚

Just finished my reread of Mistborn 1. It had been a while, and was fun to read remembering certain secrets that are revealed later and seeing how they are foreshadowed. 📚

Just finished Isles of the Emberdark and considering what I want to read next... First I figured, 'Let's do Mistborn Era Two!' Then I changed my mind to, 'Why not start at the beginning with Era One?'

So, here we go! 📚

Just saw the beginning of a headline: "John Williams, the legendary composer behind Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and the original Superman theme"

I opened to finish the sentence: "admits he 'never liked film music very much.'"

He's 93 years old! Don't make me think he died by clipping the end short!

I never thought about it before I left Instagram / Facebook, but it really is inconvenient when a business only has their information viewable after you log in to your account first. It's great business for Meta, and even though it's free, it may as well be a paywall for someone like me.

Went camping and did some campfire Dutch oven cooking the other day. Made a variation on what my family calls 'Chicken Cheese Biscuit' for the first time and it turned out great! #cooking #campfire #dutchoven

Ok I just finished Wicked (see my earlier post). The second half had some interesting bits, and some long boring bits (sitting around Kiamo Ko foreeever...). Having seen the musical production I had a few expectations for some of the characters. Yes, I knew some differences, but (cont...) 📚 #booksky

So, I'm reading Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (Gregory Maguire). I knew it was quite different from the musical adaptation, and I'm only about halfway through, but so far I would say the two are only loosely related to each other. Maybe second cousins... 📚 #booksky

@derekandrich.bsky.social 's first power washer. It's like a magic eraser machine!

English style pie night! @derekandrich.bsky.social made steak, ale and mushroom pies from scratch with mashed potatoes and peas. They're perfect! (Not going to be able to finish in one sitting as they're 500+ grams!)

I never mentioned it but my next audiobook was Mark of the Fool (by J.M. Clarke), and I sped through it so fast I'm already starting the third installment. It's fun, easy, and entertaining. 📚 #booksky

Just finished Ruin (#3 in The Faithful and the Fallen series by John Gwynne). The first half or so took me a little while to get through, but I found the second half much more engaging and then a cliffhanger ending! I'm not sure if I want to continue with the next book or take a break... #booksky 📚

I forgot to take a picture of this weekend's breads, but I promise they turned out even better than last weekend, which was fantastic. Yes, I made two because one loaf will be gifted. We're already halfway through the one we kept 😅 #baking #sourdough

I want to make a regular thing about having fresh bread on the weekends, so here we go. I'm not a stranger to making bread, but it's been a while. I'm very pleased with how this turned out. Based on the no-knead method, it had a 20 hour rise at about 68 degrees F. A very nice flavor 🙂 #baking #bread

Knitting outside today! 🧶 60 degrees and overcast, so of course I'm relaxing with some coffee and my current audiobook (Ruin, by John Gwynne)📚

So, I finished my repeat of Malice (by John Gwynne) and it went better, being familiar with the characters and style. I immediately proceeded with Valor and liked it better. No need to reread that one. I am, however, taking a break from that series for something different. 1/2 #booksky

Odd. Just got an alert from my Watch saying I reached a milestone for walking 80k steps in a single day! Pretty impressive to do before 6:45am...

Realistically, I average 22-25k daily.

After deleting today's data, can I still keep the badge? 😉

I want to learn this piece the right way, so I'm following the given fingering, and the highlighted section has been all I've worked on for about 15 minutes already. For years I've only played periodically for fun, but I feel like redeveloping some of my old skills again.
