Thetrusize.com, by James Talmage and Damon Maneice, is a website that lets you move a country or state around a Mercator projection map of the world so you can see how big or small a country really is.

Compare Countries With This Simple Tool
Drag and drop countries around the map to compare their relative size. Is Greenland really as big as all of Africa? You may be surprised at what you find! A great tool for educators.

The Japanese government's latest Mynaportal app update allows you to add your My Number card to your iPhone's Apple Wallet. Servers were a little busy but it works as advertised.

Sounds like the premise of a great heist movie.
Germany and Italy are facing calls to move their gold out of New York following President Donald Trump’s repeated attacks on the US Federal Reserve and increasing geopolitical turbulence. https://on.ft.com/4kV7xgU

I’m all for people doing cosplay, but it’s weird how US immigration and law enforcement always go with Ghost from Call of Duty. One Piece or Ghibli characters would really liven up the vibe.

Guardian photographer David Levene and I travelled to Okinawa a couple of months ago to make this video/text/photography package to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Okinawa. A real team effort that would not have been possible without colleagues in Okinawa, London and Sydney.
Okinawa was the bloodiest battle of the Pacific war. 80 years on, are the dead being betrayed?
A quarter of Okinawan civilians died during the US invasion, some after being told to kill themselves. But today the legacy of the war dead is being complicated by the presence of tens of thousands of...

Science FTW
Researchers in Japan have developed a plastic that dissolves in seawater within hours, offering up a potential solution for a modern-day scourge polluting oceans and harming wildlife.

The new material is as strong as petroleum-based plastics but breaks down into its original components when exposed to salt.

I like my Powerbeats Pro 2’s, but my youngest was hoping to grab the みかん (mandarine orange) I’d left on the table and was disappointed. This sort of design confusion would never have happened if Jony Ive was still at Apple. He would have made them edible and delicious.

The new Fujifilm GFX100RF isn’t for me so with the X-Pro4 likely still some way off, I’ve ‘upgraded’ to an X-Pro3.
