Update on the update: Been down a rabbit hold of meta-analyses on spanking's affects on kids. VAST majority of studies show negative effects. Even the "pro-spanking" social scientists can only attempt to argue, "Well, the effects aren't *that* bad." Almost never point to evidence for real benefits.
Update: whole book has been fascinating. But the chapter on spanking advice in evangelical parenting manuals & research on its consequences is worth the price of the book itself. Revealing and frankly horrifying.
Got my copy on audible today and already well into it. Really fascinating insights into the vast literature on evangelical parenting and its consequences. I’m sure this will resonate with many evangelicals and exvangelicals. Well done, @mburtwrites.bsky.social & @kkramermcginnis.bsky.social.

The GOP has made it clear they have no interest in compromise with Dems. So they will have to figure how to reopen their govt that they closed.

And they get another vacation
