I’ve spent a lot of time this week thinking of the Outer Limits episode called “Lithia” Major Jason Mercer awakes from a cryogenics experiment to a primitive Earth society devoid of men. His presence among these women, many of whom have never seen a man, begins to complicate everything.

You cannot grow up in The Bronx without being around Puerto Rican culture and I’m
So happy I did. I might have not understood what was being said at the half time show but all the cultural scenes- I understood. Growing up- my favorite memories of summers were enjoying my coconut Piraguas.

Our oldest is home this weekend so we’re off to The African American Smithsonian Museum today. I’ve been a member since it first opened and we’re really lucky to live here that we can go often.

Woke up this morning and started scrolling to see the disgusting things said and it reminded me of the quote- a hit dog will always holler. To life my spirits, the first song I put on this morning for my walk was “A Deeper Love” by Aretha Franklin. It always puts me in a better mood.

I read the Bridgerton books when it came out in my 20s and for me, it’s a story of family and coming together after tragedy. I never thought it would be what it is today. Made a quick trip to NYC to my Barnes and Noble to meet Julia Quinn and get autographed books for my oldest and myself.

In honor of Black History Month, here’s a reminder that Star Trek has always been woke. Infinite diversity in infinite combinations. 🖖🏾

Harriet Powers (October 29, 1837 – January 1, 1910) was an American folk artist and quilter born into slavery in rural northeast Georgia. Her Bible Quilts are a pure work of art. I cannot wait to get these stamps.

Hindus shave their heads for purification, penance, dedication, mourning, or as rites of passage, symbolizing a fresh start, renunciation of vanity, and humility before God♥️

My parents did this to us like 3 times 😂

I thank my parents for teaching us to speak Tamil and raising us bilingual. It’s truly a gift to switch worlds all the time. I only know two languages and wish I knew more but I’d like to learn how to read and write basic Tamil this year. Here’s hoping.

Can’t believe it’s been 8 years since her passing. It’s Hindu tradition of offering food that the spirits would like to eat so carrot cake it is. My mom always told me that my good Karma from my past lives granted me such a wonderful second mother. Spending the day with my FIL.

I wish my dad was alive to see the Buddhist monks walk for peace. I know he would have found a way to see them here when they get to DC. My father healed a lot of his own suffering through Vipassana meditation and I’m glad it helped him towards the end of his life. Thinking of you Dad.
