Why are gonorrhea diagnoses declining in the US?
After a decade of rising cases, the US CDC reported a decline in the rate of gonorrhea diagnoses for two years in a row in 2022 and 2023, especially among young adults. Primary and secondary syphilis ...

In our new paper in PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases, we quantified the gap between expected and observed dengue cases in Brazil. We used an interrupted time series approach, incorporating predictions generated by machine learning models. With @kroster.bsky.social

New preprint: Drug resistant gonorrhea is a big public health problem. Resistance to ceftriaxone, the last approved antibiotic, is spreading globally. When we first detect one of these very resistant isolates, how many undetected cases are there likely to be? www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...
Estimating the undetected burden of infections and the likelihood of strain persistence of drug-resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a serious public health threat. Neisseria gonorrhoeae has developed resistance to all antibiotics recommended for treatment and reports of reduced susceptibility to c...
