Indeed, it’s a tough one to weed out in the ‘I’m doing this to save the planet’-arguments. This World Bank report has some interesting numbers on the contribution of transport in different parts of the world (low-medium-high income) www.worldbank.org/en/topic/agr...

Next one I just finished. Both serene with sharp edges, debut novel from Elizabeth O’Conner. Took me 40 pages to really get into the mood of the book, but very worth the read! 4/5 #booksky

Thought I’d share the books I read. Just finished this one, an easy-read about what we in Belgium ate based on archeological research. Two takeaways: our food system has been globalized a very long time and our past hold solutions for a sustainable food future! Even some recipes to try out! #booksky

The future EU #protein strategy must promote the production + consumption of protein crops for food, not just feed. This will benefit #FoodSecurity as well as health and climate. Growing more protein crops just for feed will lead us nowhere.

Als iemand daar meer studies over kent: hit me up!
My colleague Hannah Ritchie has published an excellent three-part series on the impact of climate change on agriculture.

In part 1 she shows that yields have increased dramatically in recent decades, but some crops would have improved more without climate change.

Crop yields have increased dramatically in recent decades, but crops like maize would have improved more without climate change
Climate change has slowed the productivity of key crops such as maize and soybeans, but might have had small positive impacts on wheat.
