Today in "Unexpected Truffle Hunt Moments": Five cats emerged from the forest to watch us arrive, like some kind of mysterious welcoming committee. One by one, they casually disappeared back into the trees, apparently satisfied.
Pretty sure I just passed some sort of secret forest cat evaluation.🐈✨

In the #PNW, #truffles favor the Douglas Fir stands so it helps to know how to identify these trees.
Douglas fir trees have flat needles, the same color on both sides, soft to the touch, and fragrant. The bark is a reddish brown color accented by ridges running vertically up the trunk.
