I remained hopeful in the face of tyranny but this will break me.

People: “We feel disconnected.”

Suggestion to get small groups together over meals, old school socializing. Everyone’s excited.

Also people: “Oh, we’re vegan.” “I’m mostly gluten-free.” “Keto!”

I’m 1000% in on accommodating allergies but if you EVER “cheat” you shouldn’t dictate group meals.

This lemon tree was a twig propagation in July. It needs a name because it’s large enough to be considered a roommate. Ideas?

Considering printing business cards that say relationship coach, not to make money but to slip to people in public with truly terrible partners.

Nashville elected officials, please note.
Pizza from the mayor and the state rep has arrived. They got it from the good pizza place, well done.

Got a brand new tree and half of one section’s lights are out. Checked connections, probably have to take it back. Not great for the aforementioned seasonal sadness.

I’m putting up my Christmas tree today so Lucia can get acclimated before ornaments… but mostly for my time-change-induced depression.

Nashville, did you know there is a micro food pantry at the Thompson Lane branch of the library (at the intersection with Nolensville?) Leave what you can, take what you need.

No paperwork, very mutual aid vibes. Libraries are the best.

I’m a grumpy old curmudgeon about this. Call a travel!
Reggie Miller and Jamal Crawford can't believe this isn't a travel for Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Mike Tirico explains the "gather" reasoning for why players can get away with it. 🏀 🎙️ #NBA

Consistency builds community. I was 7 min late to my blood donation appointment and the staffer casually mentioned that she was worried because I am usually a few minutes early.

I looked it up & I’ve donated 9 times in the last two years. But even that is enough to know me (& my difficult veins.)

I pay into the system through income tax. I have also received SNAP benefits as both a child and adult. I am a healthy, productive citizen because I received a little help when I needed it.

Every time the TN Lookout puts this photo into their email newsletter, I cackle at the perfection John Partipilo reached with this one.

Volunteering at Trunk or Treat today a teen told me our church was where she learned what is compostable and recyclable and it warmed my heart. (We also taught her about Jesus, obviously.)

If you live in Nashville and want a Labubu (or need to buy one for a loved one), International Market on Belmont Blvd has them.

I have been enthusiastically promoting Brami to anyone who wanted protein pasta for almost a year but now it’s at Costco so if you have been eating sad pasta, please give it a try.

I often roll my eyes when people say Nashville is such a small town, but I was on the same flight home as an acquaintance who parked in the daily deck and offered me a ride home so maybe I’m just a cynic.

Update: the tiny weighted blanket does help but my carry-on gets flagged more often. I heard one TSA agent say to the screener “that’s a weighted blanket but I’ll look if you want” and she was satisfied with that. There must be dozens of us.
I bought a tiny weighted blanket for traveling to magically sleep better away from home. We live in hope.

Just happened to be flying to DC today. By the time I made it to the mall the rally was over but seeing hundreds making their way there on the metro and thousands leaving joyfully made me proud to be an American.

Me: “I guess in a middle-aged way, sure.”
Date: “What’s stopping you from going dancing on Broadway on a weeknight?”
Me: “Absolutely everything.”
