📢 Excited to announce our new research is now published in the JIC! 🎉

🔍 What were we seeing? 3 g of cefazolin for cellulitis in obese patients.
🚪 Why DOOR? It combines efficacy and safety outcomes.
💡 What did we find? 3 g might be a good idea.

🎧 Stepped out of my comfort zone! I joined a podcast to nerd out about microbiome-based therapeutics—aka turning bugs 🦠 into 💊 drugs.

Side note: why does your voice sound so different outside of your own head?

Big thanks to @juliejusto.bsky.social and Dr. Villafuerte Galvez - it was a pleaslure!

Retsef Levi continues to demonstrate his complete lack of knowledge about epidemiology and public health.

He says ACIP will now focus on “Personalized risk-benefit analyses vs. 'safe & effective”.

Personalized risk-benefit is the very important role of healthcare providers, not ACIP.

1/ Today and tomorrow, #ACIP —the external body that sets vaccine policy—is holding a special session. One item on the agenda is the highly anticipated vote for the Covid vaccine. We’re expecting VAERS data to be misused to suggest 25 pediatric deaths were caused by the vaccine. Here are the facts👇

1/ It’s day 2 of ACIP’s first meeting with members appointed by RFK Jr. Today, they’re discussing the #MMRVvaccine, and I expect it will include concerns about febrile seizures and safety. Here’s a quick breakdown of what you should know👇

The health secretary has made many inaccurate statements about vaccines. But the science is clear that vaccines have dramatically reduced childhood illness, disability and death.

Kulldorff starts by saying that mercury is a toxin (incorrect- it's a toxicant), and raises concerns about cumulative exposures to mercury.

If only we had guidelines that ensured mercury exposure remained below toxic thresholds...

Redwood now wants to go back to the 2004 IOM report and play mechanisms games about neuroinflammation and autism.

Again ignoring that after the removal of thimerosal-containing vaccines from the US supply, the rates of autism continued to rise.

Next we have antivaccine propaganda about thimerosal:

1/ Today, #ACIP —the U.S. committee that sets vaccine policy—is meeting for the first time under new RFK Jr.–appointed members. One hot topic? The safety of thimerosal-containing flu vaccines. Let’s break down what it is, why it matters, and what’s at stake. 🧵

Watching what I can of the ACIP meeting; currently on COVID in kids; yes, kids still getting hospitalized. 1 in 4 end up in ICU. Most are unvaccinated, deaths are rare but are occurring (23 since 2023). Yes, that is far more than the deaths from COVID vaccines (zero) #factsmatter

Parents deserve information they can trust. The AAP has published the childhood immunization schedule for decades that has been grounded in science and relied upon by pediatricians and families alike. If you have questions, your pediatrician is your best source for answers and guidance.

THREAD: A Critical Review of Lyn Redwood’s Thimerosal Presentation to ACIP (June 2025)

Redwood, an antivaccine activist, presented outdated and misleading claims about thimerosal to the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

Let’s walk through what’s wrong.

Kulldorff opening as ACIP Chair (generally to be the chair you have to have served on the committee for at least one year).

He begins by stating that people who believe that people who want every vaccine and people who want no vaccines are both wrong.
