Really excited to attend fantastic ILD session this morning #ERS2025. Featuring a great talk by my previous lab supervisor (delighted to still get to see my name acknowledged on screen! 🤓). Underlying message from session was remaining need for magic drug ✨✨💊that can actually stop ILD progression

Interesting conversation with Merit CRO on the challenges in respiratory science: poor inhaler technique, lack of standardised data capture and data analysis. Cf oncology, the basics hold back progress. But strides being made by @europeanrespsoc.bsky.social and @atscommunity.bsky.social #ERS2025

Almost 70 years since the first widely used inhaler and correct usage hovers around 30%. We need to develop patient-centric devices if we want better patient outcomes. #ERS2025

Here at #ERS2025 scientists are sharing promising ways to end the #DiagnosisDelay including detecting conditions from your voice!

Spirometry is not enough to diagnose COPD. A found 50% of people with symptoms consistent with COPD yet normal lung function as measured by spirometry. We need to develop better tools to address the #DiagnosisDelay #ERS2025

Fascinating presentation from Prof Daiana Stolz. COPD starts decades before symptoms. We need better trackers of lung function over time. Did someone say 'lung health indicator'? Our work with @ukri.org is seeking to create this and end #DiagnosisDelay #ERS2025

Claire shared that she hadn't smoked for 35 years before her diagnosis
Brilliant to see a session start with the patient experience: imagine being unable to walk and talk at the same time. That can be life with COPD. Here for the fight to change that. #ERS2025

Great to be here with the @asthmaandlung.org.uk team. All the latest in respiratory science, allies in the battle for breath. Thanks also to the team that got us here! #ERS2025

This is what a lung with COPD looks like (right) compared to a normal lung. Fewer small branches on the lung 'tree' means it's significantly harder to breathe. #ERS2025

Huge advances in how we can identify which type of COPD someone has. The challenge is getting a diagnosis of COPD in the first place. #DiagnosisDelay #ERS2025

Factors other than smoking are bigger drivers of the global COPD burden. Urgent need to study broader factors such as air pollution. #ERS2025

Embedding science, innovation and research in healthcare can meaningfully improve people's lives.

The UK government's ten-year plan for the National Health Service (NHS) is a great opportunity to make this happen.

Do: Share how research and innovation will change the lives of 12 million people with lung disease.
Don't: Accept the status quo. That's why we've joined BS.

Do: 'Listen more' (The Bear).
Don't: Call this platform BS and the other my-ex.
