RFK is turning the CDC into an ideological rubber stamp of the Trump admin. Congress must use their oversight power to restore qualified leadership and adequate funding to the CDC. Our children's health and our scientific credibility depend on it.

CDC workers were terrified as gunman shot at the agency’s headquarters yesterday.

CDC employees told me the shooting at CDC was much worse than initial police reports suggested. More than 40 bullets hit buildings. “It’s a miracle more people weren’t hit,” said one staffer who was locked down in a building for hours last evening.
Feel like this needs a spotlight: employees were told that the shooting at CDC, which left an officer dead and buildings riddled with bullets, was targeted at agency, @lenasun.bsky.social, @laurenweberhp.bsky.social and @tobiaraji.bsky.social report

An absolutely extraordinary piece of writing about the shock and dread of living through something you would have considered unimaginable, and — somewhat — coming out the other side.

(This is not a spoiler, if the author had not survived there would be no story. Stop quibbling and read it.)
The first time I tried to read this piece…I couldn’t get through it because I was uncontrollably sobbing by the time I got near the end

It’s beautiful and heartbreaking.
