Struck all over again by how utterly weird and wild the first chapter of Moby-Dick is. Were you expecting exposition? Introductions to the main characters? Maybe some scene-setting? LOL no, you're getting a philosophical treatise on water instead. With bonus fart jokes. 🐋

A lovely teaching from Nicole Baden Roshi. (Not a tradition I've ever practiced in, not a teacher I'm familiar with, but a lovely expression of the transcendental hopes I still carry.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb0L...

This week I have written about William Harvey and the circulation of the blood in the poetry of the 1660s. Not expecting a massive flood of readers for this one.
The heart of man, what Art can e're reveal?
Actually about dissecting hearts, sorry about that.

A thing I’ve been using more in conversations about transportation choices is that you don’t have to change your choice.

But providing desirable (reliable, convenient, timely, safe, enjoyable) choices beyond using a car means others in your community might. That benefits the mode you choose, too
Do you find yourself in conversations with people who like to talk about how "they would never ride a bus" or who worry about "bus stigma"? I was just reminded of this 2017 article of mine, which tries to blow all that nonsense away. Hope you find it useful.

Why We Should Stop Talking About 'Bus Stigma'
Obsessing over trying to serve different economic classes on mass transit misses the point.
