This has been such an enjoyable project to work on and was made possible by the outstanding work of so many! I'm excited that it's ready to share and stay tuned for follow-up POM stories coming soon.
Since the group started our favorite Ln has been holmium. Terbium has been catching up though and we are excited to share what we've been working on and all that we've learned. Team science made possible by wonderful collaborators at UI, LANL, LBNL, and CO Mines chemrxiv.org/engage/chemr...
Isolation and Characterization of Tb(IV) in Aqueous Media via Polyoxometalate Encapsulation
There has been a renaissance in high valent lanthanide chemistry, which has resulted in the first examples of tetravalent praseodymium (Pr) and terbium (Tb) in molecular systems. These feats have been...

This is maddening, insane, and unbelievably sad. Pancreatic cancer is brutal disease and mRNA vaccines have already saved millions of lives. The development of this science won a Nobel Prize two years ago. And now this... Every day in this administration the news is worse than the day before.
Scientists have just cured pancreatic cancer in some patients with personalized mRNA vaccines. Pancreatic cancer. And this Trump administration wants to throw it all away.

They’re throwing away a cure for cancer.
Exclusive: NIH officials have advised scientists to remove reference to mRNA vaccines from their grant applications, in expectation the Trump administration intends to abandon most research in the field.

The NIH and NSF panel cancellations of the past week were bad. This is much, much worse. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202... I don't like engaging with politics or politicians, but tomorrow every one of my representatives will be hearing from me about how this is illegal and should be reversed.
White House pauses all federal grants, sparking confusion

This is lab's first foray into lower valent actinide chemistry and it has provided the platform to extend our work into transuranic systems. Led by 4th year PhD student Primadi Subintoro, this has been a really enjoyable story to see come together!
