So some good has come from this #shutdown after all…
October 3, 2025 at 4:48 PM
It’s properly known as the trump shutdown, not the Schumer.

Even he said so:

"A shutdown falls on the president's lack of leadership. I mean problems start from the top and they have to get solved from the top. A shutdown means the president is weak."

The president has no authority to order flags at half-staff to acknowledge the murder of Charlie Kirk. Kirk simply doesn’t qualify per the US flag code: 1/2

@govmikedewine.bsky.social as an Ohioan, you among all governors should know the consequences of deploying National Guard troops against American citizens. I urge you to rethink your decision.

@repmaxmiller one last plea: There are 145,979 Medicaid recipients in Ohio's 7th District (you represent them, remember?). That’s about 40% of your constituents. VOTE TO HELP THEM BY VOTING NO ON THIS DISASTROUS BILL!!

Air layers taken from a volunteer crabapple my neighbor and I let grow between our houses. It gets cool orange apples in the fall. The first air layer didn’t take, so I recut and kept the sphagnum less wet and less packed. That did the trick. Last pic is the debris I cut off—fully 8 feet! #bonsai

Of all the cruel things in this tax bill, the fact that millions of parents won’t receive the increased child tax credit because their incomes are TOO LOW is the cruelest of all.

I need to apologize to Neanderthals for suggesting Marge must carry their DNA. Just read an amazing piece saying 40,000 years ago they fashioned an epoxy-like adhesive to repair their tools. No way MTG has that highly developed intelligence.

Powerful words from Langston Hughes. For millions, these tumultuous times are not new. But if we choose to open our eyes, hearts, and minds to unite rather than divide, then:

“O, let America be America again—
The land that never has been yet—
And yet must be—the land where every man is free.”
"Let America Be America Again"

The three judges were appointed by Reagan, Obama and Trump. This could mark a return to the sanity of checks and balances.

Thanks, @repmaxmiller for voting to hurt seniors in Ohio and nationwide so you can give even more tax breaks to the filthy rich. Oh, and saddling future generations with even more crippling debt: $2.3 Trillion added to the deficit.

this is a letter to the editor from a high school track runner who came in second to a trans girl in a race. her state house rep in maine started talking about it. so she wrote this: www.pressherald.com/2025/05/14/r...
