I’m Kels Choo, an artist in CO who makes comics, zines, & other art! 🤙

Here is a handout I made for my kid’s class last week, when I went in to talk to them about making books. I Frankensteined together a bunch of art I already had to make it, and filled other stuff in. But it was a big hit, so I’m sharing it here in case you know any kids interested in making books!
Let’s make books handout for kids, detailing various roles in making books; author, illustrator, editor, designer, marketing/publicity, librarians/booksellers/teachers and finally readers. Two worksheets, “be a writer” with a writing mad lib, and “be an illustrator” with some drawing prompts. Two more worksheets, “be an editor” with editorial marks to practice on some editable sentences, and “be a cover designer” with four books needing covers. Two final handouts: “be a librarian, bookseller or teacher” with six kids and six books to match, and “be a reader” with preferences in genre and types of books to narrow your reading preferences to help find more books to enjoy.

Supposedly the work around to the printer tracking is using a 100% black and white printer, but I’m not completely sure.
Brochure version is available in my Instagram Story highlight titled ‘RESIST’. Free to download, print, and distribute. WARNING. Numerous brands of color laser printers — at the urging of the US gov — leave coded metadata in barely perceptible yellow dots tat can be used to trace a printed document to its source, a feature originally intended as a deterrent to counterfeiting currency with laser printers.
