Every year, I do a list of 10 games I loved that year -- this is 2025! My guess is you'll know some of them, and also that you won't know some of them.

Please let me tell you about these fine video games!!

(Links are mostly to Steam, but some are on console too.)

I have to impress upon you that Sudokuvania is a fully realized Metroidvania. It is merely expressed as 20+ integrated variant sudokus.

There is nothing else like this. Solving it is one of my proudest achievements. It is a $0 website. Use a laptop.

I'm working on cleaning up my withered online presence, starting with my homepage.

Going back over long-ago (now private) blog posts really hits home that I just didn't know how to write like a grown-up until age 30 or so. Really wish I could have figured that out earlier.

I know some will be mad at Google for shutting down a service, but I am *unabashedly joyous* that a major URL shortener is getting turned off. These things are atrocious, fragile, and not at all in your interest as a producer or consumer of them.

Google’s shortened goo.gl links will stop working next month
It’s time to change to a new URL shortener.

I do not understand why the party is not marginalizing the obviously poor judgment and defensive crouch of the Biden campaign's inner circle.

Anita Dunn, Ron Klain, or David Plouffe should not be allowed anywhere near a Democratic campaign again.

I have come to adore Mimic Logic, this weirdo little logic game that is essentially the Parlor game from Blue Prince taken to its extreme logical conclusions.

It's at 98% positive, only a few reviews short of Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam - give it a go!

Trump's DOJ is validating the position state election officials have always held -- which is to reflexively push back against any potential for abusive federal political interference in elections, even well-intentioned security requirements.

@leedrutman.bsky.social Do you think the much more strategic and consistent use of cross-endorsing and alliances in NYC this time around is a point in favor of RCV in achieving its stated goals? Or no different?

I also hate that it’s borrowing from the evil plan name
i think that democrats should be preparing for the next time they win power but honestly, calling it "project 2029" speaks to a lack of imagination with regard to the task at hand.

There's nothing "centrist" about speaking plainly in the language of your audience, rather than the language of your friends. I am definitely among those who believe progressives need to speak more like normal people in public life.

Democratic troubles revive debate over left-wing buzzwords
From “intersectionality” to “equity,” many say jargon is alienating key voters. But progressives say inclusive language is vital.

We created a safer AV1 decoder, rav1d, by forking the dav1d decoder and rewriting the C code in Rust. It works great except our Rust is 5% slower than the C. We're not sure why so we're offering a $20k bounty to figure it out and make the Rust code faster. www.memorysafety.org/blog/rav1d-p...
