The "Marty Supreme" poster immediately reminded me of the "Die Hard With A Vengeance" poster.

No hate, but this is pretty steep for a set for hardback western-themed Superman comics.

The most bittersweet thing about the Internet and social media is that we get to see, read and interact with wonderful people who share our interests, aesthetics, points of view, energy, philosophies and lifestyles...

My biggest neat freak trait when it comes to movies and book series is that, if I watched or read the first entry and then didn't read/watch the followups until a long time afterwards, I debate whether to rewatch/reread the first entry or pick up where I left...(1/2)

My reading habits are a mess and have been a mess since late 2020. In that period of time there were 20 books I half started and I intend on finishing them when I get around to it. Optimistically, I might clean up my list of unfinished reads by late 2026. Anyone else in the same boat? 📚

Si me hubieran dicho en el 2007 que Don Draper interpretaría al profesor Jirafales en SNL los hubiera tachado de locos.

After listening to track 4 of "The Life of a Showgirl" I can confidently add Taylor Swift to a personal list that includes Johnny Cash & Bruce Springsteen.

I watched "The Muppet Movie" for the first time and in little over a minute I witnessed cameos from James Coburn, Madeline Kahn, Telly Savalas, Carol Kane and Paul Williams...and then Charles Durning (who I recently watched in "Dark Night of the Scarecrow") shows up. I got second-degree starstruck.

This "All in the Family" remake sucks. Carroll O'Connor was a far better actor and Rob Reiner had better chemistry with him.
WATCH: Bill Maher whines to Rob Reiner about people only attacking what he says because he’s old, says older people are “the last acceptable group you can make fun of”

(Reminder: He goes after young people endlessly — some examples at the end👇🏽)

Robert Redford was a terrific actor and activist, but he was also a great movie director. One of my favorite movies ever is this wonderful picture about the quiz show scandals of the 1950s. Seek it out. One of the finest movies of the 1990s.

June was the strongest of the year so far: from one of the most daring investigative reports in Latin America history, to an underrated dystopia from 1940, to a genre-and-gender-defying novel, Octavia Butler's masterclasses in short fiction and Mary Gauthier's part memoir, part songwriting book.

I contributed two poems ("Mesquite-Man" and "My Grand Tour", pages 8-11) to Unstrung's summer edition of 2025. It's always great to be part of such a wonderful project and in good company. We got a nice mix of familiar and new names as well. #poetry

(1/2) An actor who catches a lot of flack online is Tom Holland. I have read people saying that he basically has only played Spider-Man, but not only have I seen the trailers for every project he has done between those movies...

(1/3) "Rocky Raccoon" is a song that would make a really good movie. Ideally, it should have been done in the 70's, during the golden era of dark and gritty, more historically and socially accurate Westerns.

(1/3) One of the strangest aspects of US culture that I never fully understood back when I was dipping my toes on the Internet in the early 2000's was the prevalence of shock jocks and shock "political" commentators. "Why are these people celebrated for saying such mean things & acting like jerks?"

Things have gotten so scary out there I have decided to change into a tree. I have also changed my profile pic to reflect this. But at least I have aviator sunglasses, so I am a cool tree and, as sappy as it may be, these sunglasses are rooted in my individuality.

Writing a profile description with so few characters available is a challenge, but I am satisfied (for now) that my new description gives a better idea of who I am to the Bluesky folks who follow me or come across my profile.
