I join the nation in mourning the loss of President Jimmy Carter. His lifelong dedication to public service, from the U.S. Navy to the White House to Habitat for Humanity to the Carter Center, was the outward manifestation of his kind, committed and honorable soul.

So true.
Sad to see him go, and we’ll remember his legacy of what is best about our country.
Hope during my time we’ll get to see another president with such strength of character.
President Jimmy Carter has passed away at the age of 100. He was a symbol of what is best about America: kindness, compassion, duty and service. He will be missed, most of all by those who long for a return of that kind of country, led by a man with such strength of character.

My husband, @clay50sub4.bsky.social, did NBA photography mostly in Washington and Philadelphia. He often saw interesting people sitting courtside. He was in DC for this same Hawks-Bullets game and took a photo of Jimmy Carter.
Jimmy Carter was the first sitting president to attend a NBA game. He went to a Hawks-Bullets playoff game in 1979. He even took a picture with the Bullets mascot, which was a dachshund named Tiny.

Carter said he had been a Hawks fan since the team got started.
