Mayors are stepping up & showing that climate leadership can be practical and put people first.

As @kljohnson7.bsky.social puts it, mayors are on the ground, hearing directly from residents and responding with helpful solutions.

Mayors are making climate action personal. It’s working.

As the Trump administration boosts fossil fuels and rolls back regulations, mayors are greening their cities — in more ways than one.

Chicago just became the first major U.S. city to launch Green Social Housing—a bold new model that tackles the housing crisis and the climate crisis. Here’s what that means for our city, and why it matters:

The measure will create a city-run nonprofit that partners with developers to build environmentally friendly housing with at least 30 percent affordable units.

I was so inspired by our @c40cities.bsky.social visit to Boston and meeting with Mayor Wu (@wutrain.bsky.social) and her incredible team. The cold storage food hub is just one powerful example of their whole of government approach to climate action the delivers for Bostonians.
Yesterday, I visited the new cold food storage hub @wutrain.bsky.social opened - an impressive project inspired by C40’s work in Milan.

It’s helping fresh food that would otherwise go to waste reach food insecure families across the city. Boston is showing how climate policies deliver benefits.

Check out the latest episode of the Cities 1.5 podcast for a conversation with myself, @amyturner.bsky.social , and @c40cities.bsky.social's David Miller about the future of the federal climate investments and how city climate action is continuing in the United States.
What is the state of city climate action in the US in 2025?

🎙️David Miller speaks to @c40cities.bsky.social's Kate Johnson and @sabincenter.bsky.social's Amy Turner about the Inflation Reduction Act and how it’s been affected by the changes in the US government.
