I woke this morning to receive the devastating news of Craig’s passing An elephant who means such an enormous amount to me, more than I will ever be able to put into words. Amboseli will feel far emptier without his gentle yet commanding presence, and I will miss him an enormous amount, as I know so many others will too.I want to thank the many people who have protected and cared for him with such dedication over the years - in particular the Maasai communities who have long coexisted with Craig and the other elephants. Special mention must be given to @david_moipei, who has spent almost every waking hour in Craig’s presence for a number of years. The exceptional work of organisations such as @biglifeafrica and @amboseli_trust has ensured that not only Craig, but the entire ecosystem, has had the chance to live on into the future. Thank you so much for all that you do.RIP my old friend. 1972-2026
