For 4 decades, I’ve been a mostly pseudonymous writer of 100s of dark character-driven songs. Last 10 years been publishing open source research on semantic data. Now channeling a love of language into horror novels inspired by the Patapsco Valley, where I’ve lived in a haunted house for 23 years.
Pretty sure that everybody who says they've *seen* a ghost, haven't actually seen a ghost. But I'm also pretty sure anyone who *thinks* they've seen a ghost have probably seen a ghost.

80,000 words in and I just figured it out how the story should end. I guess that’s better than not figuring out how it should end.

I’m up to just over 70,000 words. Four chapters left to write in Part Two — at least according to my plan.

Would love to finish this up by next weekend.

I’m getting used to writing dialogue delivered by dead people.

Managed to get a full day of writing in, despite errands. Taking a break to go to the grocery store was a good thing — you can pick up a lot of descriptive material about human nature while getting your shopping done.

Won’t stop working on this dream sequence until everything outside the dream sequence feels like a dream sequence.

Songwriting Tip: Treat the traditional as untraditional, and vice-versa.

Dreams last night again about the characters from the book-in-progress.

Years ago when I was intensively studying German for school, I would often have these vivid dreams where I would be reading long passages of German — despite not understanding.

These dreams about the characters are similar.

Sometimes I get too caught up in the mechanics of a writing project — like celebrating small milestones in page count, getting certain scenes done, etc.

But what’s really exciting is when the characters — independent of the story — start to invade your dreams.

After editing, I’m now at 164 manuscript pages. Would love to bring this project to a close before the end of the month.

Back to writing. About a third of the way through Part Two.

Writing session deep into the early morning took me nearly 80 pages deeper into the story. Woke up ready to write, having dreamt all night about writing.
