This shit really is made up.

The piece was written by Annie Holmquist, author of articles like, "Books Your Kids Should Read to Combat Wokeism," and "Ten Books Turning Our Freshmen into Social Justice Warriors."

But sure. Straight white men really have it bad in publishing. 🙄

And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, did not mean to pry, but you don't by any chance happen to have six fingers on your right hand?
And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, where the shadows lie, One Tim to rule them all, One Tim to find them, One Tim to bring them all, and in the darkness, bind them.

We're gonna talk about this on our final episode (of the year) of @badlitfriends.bsky.social, so look for that. This whole thing is just bonkers and so very evil.

#authors read your contracts. Better yet, have someone like a lawyer or literary agent look it over.

I know this is 4 days old, but even if you didn't know about the evil contract Shadow Light Press binds their authors under, their website is almost certainly AI-generated copy, and one of their links leads to a Rickroll video. The red flags are actually Pennywise balloons.

New at #WriterBeware: I go in-depth on the most problematic clauses in that Shadow Light Press contract. This isn't just a publisher "beware": exposing bad contract language helps writers understand not just what they should avoid, but what they should demand. writerbeware.blog/2025/12/19/w...

I enjoyed this season of Welcome to Derry so much. So seeing this was so very disappointing. This intro sequence could have easily been done by actual paid artists.

One of the things I miss about Twitter was query letter rejection poetry (or blackout rejection poetry, can't remember what we called it). So much fun, and so many creative takes. Really took the sting out of rejections.

Bring back query letter rejection poetry!

Where do I start? The absolute lack of cohesiveness from segment to segment? The flat, lifeless, color palette? The uncanny valley that pervades the entire 45 seconds? The bleak, Hunger Games society vibes?

Recently re-watched Phantom of the Opera at The Royal Albert Hall, first time in ages. It only now struck me how Christine has ZERO agency. Which follows the book, no shade, but we've come a long way in story-telling. (the music though...wow. Think of Me still stuck in my head.)
